Cash Only is a free hand-drawn display font inspired by the old hand-painted signs at Cap’n Keno’s in Encinitas, California. I pulled the original letterforms from the restaurant’s wooden sign and roadside menu, then used those shapes as the foundation for building out the rest of each typeface.
The download includes three styles: Cash Only Cap’n, based on the lettering from the main wooden sign; Cash Only Meatloaf, based on the thinner, narrower lettering from the roadside menu; and Cash Only BBQ, another style pulled from the menu with its own set of hand-painted shapes and quirks.
I kept the strange proportions, inconsistent line weights, and imperfections that gave the original signs so much character. Each version is a little different, a little wonky, and intentionally imperfect.
Use them for posters, apparel, packaging, branding, signage, or anywhere you want type that feels genuinely hand-painted.
Includes three style variations, uppercase letters, numbers, and punctuation.
Actually Free. No email signup, no information harvesting, no strings attached. I made these fonts because I want people to use them.
